If you wish to provide assistance to those affected by the recent hurricanes, you can give in three ways:

  1. Monetary donations are preferred right now, as monies are needed to help mobilize short and long-term recovery efforts, and provide aid for families that have been displaced or are incapacitated. 100% of the money you give to UMCOR will be used for disaster recovery efforts in Texas. You can give on-line by clicking here GIVE NOW.  Or you can give to UMCOR through Dyer UMC by placing your donation in the offering plate on Sunday or by sending it to Dyer UMC 2010 Church Street, Dyer, IN, 46311. Please specify on the memo line and/or envelope that this is a donation to UMCOR.
  2. With the help of our church and community, you can supply hygiene kits and cleaning buckets. We will be collecting these kits and buckets at Dyer UMC until September 24. Please consider asking your office, team, club, or group if they’d like to help put these kits and buckets together. Then drop them off at Dyer UMC between 9am-2pm Monday – Thursday or on Sunday mornings 8am- 11:30am.
  3. Pray. Please lift the people who have lost so much to these disasters and the people who are helping in the rescue and recovery efforts in prayer. Ask Him to open the hearts of people to be extravagantly generous with their gifts of time and money so these people will have the help they need to recover and rebuild. And praise Him for all the goodness that has been displayed in the midst of these tragedies.

Partnering Opportunities

Food Pantry

1st and 3rd Mondays from 9-10:30am

Helping at Food Pantry

New volunteers are most welcome and encouraged to join us on food distribution days.  No special skills are necessary.  It is helpful if you arrive about 8:30 AM to join us as we set up by placing enough food items on our distribution tables to start the distribution.

Each table contains items from a particular food group, from which our guests select the items they prefer.

When our guests enter at 9:00 AM, each volunteer will stand behind one or two distribution tables and assist our guests as they choose from each food group. More inventory is kept on shelves just behind the table; most tables need to be refilled partly through the distribution by simply moving more of the food items from the shelf behind you to the distribution table in front of you.

Most of our guests visit our pantry rather regularly, so be prepared to meet some new, friendly acquaintances who warmly greet each other, share recipes, and catch up on what’s been happening the last two weeks.

Thank you for your interest in serving our food pantry guests.  If you have any questions please call our office at 219-865-8947.
