Food Pantry
Helping at Food Pantry
New volunteers are most welcome and encouraged to join us on food distribution days. No special skills are necessary. It is helpful if you arrive about 8:30 AM to join us as we set up by placing enough food items on our distribution tables to start the distribution.
Each table contains items from a particular food group, from which our guests select the items they prefer.
When our guests enter at 9:00 AM, each volunteer will stand behind one or two distribution tables and assist our guests as they choose from each food group. More inventory is kept on shelves just behind the table; most tables need to be refilled partly through the distribution by simply moving more of the food items from the shelf behind you to the distribution table in front of you.
Most of our guests visit our pantry rather regularly, so be prepared to meet some new, friendly acquaintances who warmly greet each other, share recipes, and catch up on what’s been happening the last two weeks.

Hammond City Rescue Mission

There are two ways to serve the Hammond Rescue Mission through our church. You can:
- Donate food items and prepare meals
- Join us as we travel to Hammond to serve the people
(There is limited space so we are only able to take 4 people each month.)
